 It's pretty easy to find this by simply shift-clicking in the 'fov' input value and dragging the mouse up or down until it the edges match. (When you shift click and then drag, you get a finer resolution.) It only takes a second to do this.

Although I still don't know why the "complex shape" tool behaves differently for me in the input window than the output window.

it's one of those gaps in understanding that I feel will come back to bite me at a later date when I need to mask something a bit more detailed. 

Oh well, I'm on track for now at least.

The default layering mode does not read across scenes, rather it 'flattens' each scene to provide the cleanest possible scene transition.

There is another layering mode available, that does not flatten scenes, and provides the cross scene layering you were looking for.
Note: You can change the layering mode for the entire project only.
The setting is available Under File/Layering

 

It would be lovely to have more blend mode options built directly into the projector. I know there is an actor that allows you to blend two video streams. It would be super cool however to have this option at the projector level. Suggested additional blend modes:

SubtractMultiplyDivideScreenDarkenLightenetc.

or another way, what if the shape with the most number of points
sets the number of points of the other one, with identifiers, 
and we shape the 2nd form (assuming we have too many points but can align some of them), 
to get our result and transposition?
